Beauty with Brains

Beauty with Brains

As consumers, we all love the journey of exploration, enjoying new products whilst discovering new brands. There is an exciting generation shift where younger consumers are actively seeking out locally produced, artisanal and natural products instead of just aimlessly following the larger international brands their parents preferred.

So what does the research say…

With March 18th being celebrated as Global Recycling Day, I feel we should all think about cosmetic packaging? We are known for always passionately striving to manufacture the best quality, sustainable, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly products, but what do you know about our packaging? More than 120 billion units of packaging are produced every year by the global cosmetics industry, much of which is not recyclable! HONESTY ALERT: Of the product packaging we can recycle, half of us don’t and yet according to a Euromonitor global consumer trends survey (what a mouthful), having a positive impact on the environment through everyday actions is a desire held by two out of three consumers. PUT SIMPLY: We obviously really like the idea of “reduce, reuse and recycle”, but need to practice how. So how can we help you achieve your goals?

Always think about a products life-cycle and avoid single-use materials. Remember that cotton wool and regular cosmetic wipes used in your beauty routine are not recyclable and most not flushable. For that reason, we encourage our customers to use our duel sided reusable vegan make-up remover puff. One puff replaces 500 cosmetic wipes. No chemicals needed, just a little water.

“Beauty with Brains”… that is what we have named our multi-tasking products. Yes, we could follow the money and encourage our consumers to believe they need to purchase a blusher, a highlighter, brow products and eyeshadow. BUY, BUY, BUY!! Our bank account would love that however, conscience and the planet would not. Our products are for multi-use applications. Do not be fooled by other clever marketing, the same product can be used as an eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, for contouring and brows. We also don’t believe in over-packaging our products. Do you really need all the unnecessary packaging that gives the illusion that the product has cost more to manufacture? Do most of us not just discard the packaging the moment we get home? We believe in adopting the philosophies of trendsetting companies like Lush and strive to embrace minimalistic packaging. We want to use only that which is necessary to get your favourite product safely into your cosmetic bag.

Did you know that our make-up palettes are reusable? You only need to replace the specific colour you have finished and not necessarily replacing it with the same colour. Swop it out! Be adventurous! You can even change it from an eyeshadow to a lipstick. By making all our refills the same size we give you full control to explore and discover your own true style.

Customize and personalize! Some people love eyes, some love lips, some love goth and some just want subtle natural radiance. We don’t adopt the one size fits all approach and we don’t believe that you should have to conform to trends. We honour the individual you are and encourage you to create either a 4, 10 or 24 shade palette of your own. That means zero wastage and best value for money.

Environmentalists and scientists have long struggled with getting people to see climate change as something that impacts their everyday lives, rather than a distant threat. We believe that Creative Glamour should be a fusion of the emotional joy when using our products, ethics one can trust and the ability for the brand to exceed the expectations that customers hold for their ideal product. One important fact we must never forget is that products may look beautiful on our face, but the containers look really ugly on our planet.
